Reading Assignment and Homework DUE 10/28 - Read entire blog

Read Chapters 11 - 13: Develop three Level 2 questions and one Level  3 question (or level 4 and five in Blooms) that you think needs to be answered. Be clear and specific with your questions!

If you aren't familiar with levels of questions watch: https://www.teachingchannel.org/videos/developing-better-questions

If you still are having trouble with levels of question (and even if you aren't) you'll need to review and pay particular attention to the handouts specifically for English : Costa's and Bloom's handout

Bloom' Level 4 and 5 are preferable to Costa's

You will be graded on your ability to question as well as answer. HMMM, See note on plagiarism below.

Dialectic / Dual Entry Journal

You will submit your 1st two entries for Grading - FOLLOW THE JOURNAL FORMAT INSTRUCTIONS, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Topic clearly labelled on left

PASSAGE on left  with chapter and page in parentheses at the end (chapter 1, page 3)  ---- Your Response on the right. Your paragraph of 8 - 10 Complex and compound sentences and two simple sentences should demonstrate an understanding of what the Author is saying and how (metaphor, simile, imagery, personification, irony) why it's significant to the chapter, why it's important to the novel as a whole (what other things in the book it connects to and how), what it's saying about a character and why,  and what it reveals about Janie's quest to find her voice and why it's important.

A word to the wise - as I've seen MANY Identical sets of reading question answers. If I see plagiarized work in any way, shape, or form I will record 0s for each student and follow the academic integrity protocols for Townview. In simple language - don't try to copy, don't try to change a word here and there, don't try to do this as a group project. Your journals will be completed individually outside of class.

I will be looking for two entries each class from now untill 11/10 when the complete journal is due - yes, i'll be reading every word.
