Six Weeks Exam Assignments

PLEASE READ ONLY THE ASSIGNMENT/S FOR YOUR CLASS AS THEY ARE DIFFERENT. ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE SENT TO jessupsenglish@gmail.com and should have a proper heading with name and period.

1ST PERIOD

1. Compose typed found poems from "Chicago 1893" and an analysis of what you were trying to accomplish with your found poem.  Use the Attitude Handout to facilitate your explanation. Submit by 11:59 tonight 4/14 with proper subject email.

2. TEST (See rubric at the bottom of the page of pick one up)

Compose Found Poem with analysis for the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus. Your poem should capture the development of Estrella's character, reflect the importance of a symbol, and connect to the meaning of the text as a whole. You analysis MUST include: 1. Statement of Purpose (mood and attitude), 2. An explanation of your word choices, imagery, phrases, and organization, 3. An explanation of the symbol in your poem and how it connects to Estrella and to the text as a whole, 4. A so what statement that expresses how your poem relates to an important idea in the novel as a whole. Your poem can be "treated" or "untreated", it may be one poem or a series of smaller poems that gather meaning, be careful and intentional in your choices.
