In Holy Sonnet 14 Donne is depicting the complex relationship between men and salvation by suggesting that there is a paradox that characterizes this relationship in order to illustrate the idea that although all humans are willing to have a prosperous after-life, there is always an inner impulse that keeps almost everyone from following "the right path", the one recommended for salvation.

  3. In Holy Sonnet 14, the speaker wants to be free from and no longer miserable being held and captured, feeling as if he / she is troubled in life itself . Pleading to be free to God for help and forgiveness, so that he/ she can show him that he is ready to go down the right path in life.

  5. John Donne gives a complex relationship to salvation and the cry for it by depicting its ugly truth to being wanted and loved by God, all while in a constant war with his own free will. There is a conflict occurring for the speaker leading up to his helplessness, his need to be invaded by God.

  7. Holy Sonnet 14, the speaker illustrates the complex relationship to salvation and men by characterizing the mystery one who has sinned and wants to have a relationship with god. Which who is at war with his own life and wants to redidicate is life. But also believes all his problems is from GOD giving up on him but fails to realizes that it wasn't God who had failed him but, him who has failed GOD !
